About our Special Interests Programs

Trekking or Mountain biking

We take great pride in believing that we have the best knowledge on alternative tourism.  Our guides are professional walkers, and they have been taking part to extraordinary adventures during the winter, both in Greece and abroad.  They have the best knowledge of the area and its walks, but also the flora and fauna.  We believe strongly that our guests that participate in such groups, are special and unique and we make sure that they have the best possible conditions in order to enjoy their stay and experience the scenery and its life, to the full extent.  Each year we service a series of groups on walking/trekking holidays, painting holidays, mountain biking, but a new concept – traditional Greek cuisine seminars.

Experience the beauty of the mountain nature and the feeling of exploration, by participating in one of our treks or mountain bike rides. Allow our experienced mountain escorts to guide you through a one day trip that will walk or cycle you along the paths of the area and bring you together with its history, culture and tradition.

There is a large number of treks or rides to choose from and every week we will be pursuing a different adventure, as every route has always something different to offer. Walk or ride through the olive groves of Pelion, the pillars of Meteora, the lakeside forests of lake Plastira, the canyons of the peninsula or the streams on the feet of mount Olympus.  Each adventure has its own cultural element and there is a provision for a short stop and visit to the most important sites of the route.

For more information and a detailed description of this weeks trek, contact us or the nearest point of sale.

Walks

The mountain of Pelion has a very big population of paths, over 300 actually, that people can walk.  A couple of centuries ago these paths used to connect the main villages of Pelion.  Especially the Milies-Xourichti path used to be the main avenue connecting the eastern with the western villages of Pelion.  The main hubs where a very big number of paths start from are the villages of Milies, Kato Lechonia and Agios Ioannis.  All these paths are safe to walk and most of them well sign posted, but in most cases nature has blocked quite a few of them.  Most paths are stone paved, with some parts of the terrain changing to forest roads.  Most paths have hilly or downhill parts, but no high altitude variations should be expected.  In my opinion if one wants to walk some of these paths it would be wise to hire a mountain guide who knows the route and could also offer some guidance about the local flora, fauna, sites and monuments.  Nevertheless, if one wants to go just for a walk, he/she can follow the coastal roads that connect the seaside villages between them.  A very good Pelion map that could be used for your walking explorations is published by the Road editions and cost just a bit less than 2000drs.  The maps are based on the Greek Army maps and they are definitely the most detailed ones in the market.

If I could compile a Top-5 list of the Pelion paths, then it would be as follows

• Milies-Xourichti,
• Kissos-Chania,
• Ano Lechonia-Drakeia,
• Tsangarada-Agios Ioannis, and
• Makrinitsa-Volos

Our guides are very well experienced mountain guides and among the best of Greece.  They have been in of many international expeditions organised by the Greek Mountaineering Association in places such as the Himalayas, Mt. Kenya, Kilimanjaro, The Andes, Mont Blanc and Equador.

COOKING
The Greek cuisine is certainly one of the most famous and delicious.  Take this opportunity to experience how the Greeks make their liquors, sweets, as well as, the world famous pies.

The “session” will take place in a traditional “kitchen”, in a beautiful Pelion house.  There you will join your host that will be happy to have you as assistants.  After having coffee you will have the chance to take part in making the delicious cherry, orange, apricot sweets, liquors, depending on the season and tha fruit that she has picked from the gardens of the house.  At the end of the session you will have the opportunity to taste the “fruits of your labor”.
